Bussum (NH)
Town-like village and municipality in the Het Gooi region. The village belonged to Naarden until 1817 and had no church of its own for a long time; in 1520 a chapel was built, which was demolished in 1827. After the 1870's the village has grown considerably.
Dorp met stedelijk karakter, tevens een gemeente, in Het Gooi. Het dorp hoorde tot 1817 bij Naarden en had lange tijd geen eigen kerk; in 1520 werd een kapel gebouwd, die in 1827 werd gesloopt. Vanaf de jaren 1870 is het dorp flink gegroeid.
The former catholic St. Vitus was built in 1883-1888 and was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers. The design of this Neo-Gothic basilica was based on the medieval Broederenkerk in Zutphen, while the tower was modelled after the 16th-century tower of Eemnes-Buiten. The church closed in 1982 and was damaged by fire in 1988 until it was finally rebuilt into apartments in 2002-2003.

De voormalige katholieke St. Vitus uit 1883-1884 werd ontworpen door P.J.H. Cuypers. Het ontwerp van de neogotische basiliek is gebaseerd op de middeleeuwse Broederenkerk in Zutphen, terwijl de toren het voorbeeld volgde van de 16e-eeuwse toren van Eemnes-Buiten. De kerk werd in 1982 gesloten en raakte n 1988 beschadigd door brand alvorens uiteindelijk in 2002-2003 te worden verbouwd tot appartementen.

Another church which has been rebuilt into apartments is the former reformed Vredekerk ('peace church'), which was built in 1913-1914. It was designed by architect C. Doornenberg in Rationalist style. In 1996 the church was closed and in 2004 it was rebuilt.

The Wilhelminakerk dates from 1926, and was probably Tj. Kuipers last church in the Netherlands. For this church the architect used a moderate Expressionist style. The church was built for the gereformeerden, but after that denomination merged with the hervormden this is the only protestant church in Bussum's centre that is still being used.

De Wilhelminakerk dateert uit 1926, en was waarschijnlijk de laatste kerk die architect Tj. Kuipers' in Nederland bouwde. Voor deze kerk gebruikte de architect een gematigd-expressionistische stijl. De kerk werd gebouwd voor de gereformeerden, maar is sinds de fusie met de hervormden de enige protestantse kerk in het centrum van Bussum die nog steeds wordt gebruikt.

After the closing of the St. Vitus in 1982, the O.L. Vrouwekerk ('church of Our Lady') became the major catholic church of Bussum. It dates from 1921 and was designed by J.Th.J. Cuypers and P. Cuypers jr., P.J.H. Cuypers' son and grandson. The church is also simply called Koepelkerk ('dome church') for obvious reasons.

Na de sluiting van de St. Vitus in 1982 is de O.L. Vrouwekerk de belangrijkste katholieke kerk van Bussum. Zij dateert uit 1921 en is ontworpen door J.Th.J. Cuypers en P. Cuypers jr., respectievelijk de zoon en kleinzoon van P.J.H. Cuypers. De kerk wordt om voor de hand liggende redenen ook wel Koepelkerk genoemd.
