The reformed church is the successor of the medieval St. Laurentius, which was largely destroyed in 1573 and demolished later, with the exception of the 15th-century tower, which has a rare stone spire. The current church dates from 1628.

The St. Laurentius is a rare example of a Roman-Catholic church in neo-Renaissance style. It was built in 1889-1891 by architect J.H. Tonnaer.
