Ouderkerk aan de Amstel (NH)

Long ago the territory of the parish of Ouderkerk included Amsterdam, but little reminds of that period, except for the village's name which means ' old church'. Where the old catholic church used to stand is now the reformed church, a building in Classical style, designed by J.E. Witte and built in 1775.

The Roman Catholic St. Urbanus is a three-aisled church in neo-Gothic style, designed by P.J.H. Cuypers and built in 1865-1867. This is one of three churches of the same name in this region that was designed by a Cuypers. P.J.H. also designed the church in Bovenkerk, while the one in Nes was the first church designed by his son Jos.

The former Gereformeerde kerk dates from 1920. It is a typical but modest example of the protestant Rationalistic architecture of Tj. Kuipers. In 2000 the church was closed.
