Leidschendam-Voorburg municipality (ZH)

Municipality founded in 2002 by the merging of the former Leidschendam and Voorburg municipality in order to prevent annexation by The Hague, which borders directly on Voorburg. Places in the municipality are Voorburg, Leidschendam and Stompwijk.

The reformed church or Oude of Martinikerk is a Gothic church from the 15th and 16th centuries, with a tower from the 14th.

The Franse Kerk or Eglise Francaise (French Church) was built in 1726 in a modest Classical style. It's nowadays used by a protestant denomination named Gereformeerde Kerk Vrijgemaakt

The catholic St. Martinus is a large cruciform basilica in neo-Gothic style. It was designed by E.J. Margry and built in 1891-1893.

Another catholic church is the OLV ten Hemelopneming, a building in Expressionist style. It dates from 1924 and was designed by P.G. Buskens. It was closed in 2008.

Leidschendam

 

 

 

The reformed Dorpskerk ('village church') of Leidschendam is an octagonal church in Classical style. It was built by Arent van 's Gravesande and completed in 1653. The original dome-shaped roof was replaced by the current one in 1865.

The catholic H.H. Petrus en Pauluskerk was also designed in neo-Gothic style by E.J. Margry. It was built in c. 1880.
