Rotterdam-Overschie (ZH)

Overschie is a former village that was annexed by Rotterdam in 1941. Although it has grown since, Overschie's village character is largely preserved.

 

 

 

 

 

The old village church burned down in 1899 and was replaced in 1900-1901 by the current reformed Grote kerk, a three-aisled cruciform church in a modern Neo-Gothic style, designed by B. Hooijkaas.

The catholic St. Petrus' Banden is a one-aisled church in Neo-Classical style, designed by P. Adams, town architect of Rotterdam, and built in 1830.

The Geref. Bethlehemkerk was built in 1896 and was designed by Tj. Kuipers in moderate Neo-Renaissance style. The front was originally crowned by a steeple.
