Buren municipality / Gemeente Buren (G)
Buren is a well preserved historic little town and the only town in the eponymous municipality in the Betuwe region of the Gelderland province. The administrative center is the village of Maurik. This page shows all historic churches in the municipality.

The reformed Lambertuskerk is a Gothic building from the 14th century, but with two octagonal tower segments in Renaissance and Classical style respectively; one designed by Italian architect Alexander Pasqualini, the other by Pieter Post.

The former
synagogue was built in 1804 and was given pointed windows in 1864. It only
served until 1890 and has been used for various other functions since.

The catholic H. Gregorius is a small pseudo-basilica in Neo-Gothic style. It was designed by G. te Riele and built in 1886.

Beusichem is in Romanesque style and
dates from the 12th century, while the Gothic nave and choir are from the 14th
and 15th centuries respectively.

century.

The reformed church is a small one-aisled building in late-Gothic style with relatively tall tower. It was destroyed in 1573 by Spanish troops and was almost completely rebuilt around 1644.

A white plaster coat hides much of its age, the reformed Martinuskerk is basically a 15th- and 16th-century Gothic pseudo-basilica, with part of the tower dating from the 14th century. Between 1860 and 1870 elements in early Neo-Gothic style were added.

pseudo-basilica built after 1494, with parts of its Romanesque predecessor still
remaining. For the most part, the tower is from the 14th century and is very
similar to the one in Erichem.

The reformed Stefanuskerk is a late-Gothic church from the 16th century with a tower and a choir from the 15th century. Remarkable is the shape of the windows of the nave which, although they are original, are not pointed but have an eliptical shape instead.

early Neo-Gothic style in 1861, a design by J. van der Toorn, replacing a
Romanesque building. The late-Gothic choir remains, as well as the tower, part
of which dates from the 11th century.
