Bladel municipality (NB)

Municipality in the south of the province, comprising the villages Bladel, Hoogeloon, Casteren, Hapert and Netersel.

 
Bladel

 

 

 

The old 15th-century tower in Campine Gothic style is all that's left of the medieval village church of St. Petrus which in 1867 was demolished and replaced by a new church, which in its turn was demolished and replaced in 1927 by a church elsewhere in the village.

The reformed church is a small building built in 1820 in neo-Classical style. It replaced the old village church, which the protestants had used from 1648 until 1819, when it was returned to its rightful owners.

The former Franciscan convent was built in 1898. The chapel at the front was added in 1936.

The catholic St. Petrus´ Banden is a remarkable building designed in a combination of neo-Romanesque, neo-Gothic, Expressionist and neo-Baroque styles by J.H.H. van Groenendael. The church was built in 1926.

Hoogeloon

 

 

 
The reformed church of Hoogeloon is a small building in very simple neo-Classical style. It was built in 1822 and shares its roof with the vicarage next to it.

The catholic St. Pancratius is a neo-Gothic church with a distinctive crossing-tower with dome. It was built in 1924 and was designed by J.H.H. van Groenendael.

Hapert

 

 

 

 

Hapert's catholic church is the St. Severinus, a neo-Romanesque building designed by C.J.H. Franssen and built in 1926.

Casteren

 

 

 

 
C.J.H. Franssen also designed the St. Wllibrordus in Casteren. This church is also in neo-Romanesque style and was built in 1907-1908. In 1935 it was extended with side-aisles by J. Franssen, son of the original architect.

Netersel

 

In 1944 the church of Netersel, built in 1932, was destroyed. In 1950 it was replaced by the current H.H. Antonius van Padua en Brigida,  a modern church in Traditionalist style, designed by C. Geenen.
