Helmond (NB)
 
City and municipality in the eastern part of Noord-Brabant. Part of the municipality are the villages Stiphout and 't Hout.

 

 

 

 

The St. Lambertuskerk is the successor of Helmond's oldest catholic church, of which the tower remains, albeit disguised. Architect Th. Molkenboer designed this neo-Gothic church, which was built in 1856-1861.

The former reformed church is a peculiar example of early neo-Gothicism built in 1847-1848. Architect A. van Veggel gave the building a very non-Gothic centralizing oxagonal ground-plan. The former church is currently used as a lawyers office.

The O.L. Vrouw ter Hemelopneming ('Our Lady Assumption') is a church in so-called neo-Byzantine style by architect J. Margry. Work started in 1914 but wasn't completed until 1928.

The St. Jozef is a late neo-Gothic church built in 1922-1931, after a design by W. te Riele.

The former St. Leonardus was closed as a church years ago and has been waiting for a new destination ever since. The church dates from 1940 and was designed by H.C. van de Leur.

The church of Stiphout is the St. Trudo, a big neo-Gothic cruciform basilica designed by H.J. van Tulder and built in 1883-1884.
